Heavenly food that excites the tastebuds .

Inner Mongolian Plateau

With an area of about one million square km and an altitude of more than 1,000 m, Inner Mongolian Plateru is located in the north China and is the second largest plateau in the country.

Inner Mongolian Plateau is vast, with a moderately undulating surface. Seen from a plane, it looks like an immense sea. The plateau has not only vast green pastures, but also deserts of billowing sand. It is one of the areas where natural pasture and desert are found together.

Inner Mongolian Plateau has very dry weather, as more than one-third of deserts in China are located there. Some big deserts on the plateau include Badain Jaran Desert, Tengger Desert, Ulan Buh Desert and Hobq Desert, etc.

As Yellow River passes through the central Inner Mongolian Plateau, the river valley expands and sand accumulates to form a fertile alluvial plain. This is Hetao Plain which is called "Jiangnan beyond Great Wall".

Inner Mongolian Plateau is the famous natural grassland in China. the verse "under the boundless sky is vast grass-land, flocks and herds are gazing in the field ... " presents a vivid picture of the region in the remote past. Due to excessive grazing, the grassland has degenerated into desert in many places. Therfore, improving the eco-system is an important part of the government Western Region Development strategy.
